The main idea of this brief was to create
a new video game using symbolism
associated with the main characters and
an item stolen from the main character. At
the time I was inspired by the works of the
newest Fire Emblem game, Awakening. I
chose to go with a fantasy type of game
with knights and warriors.
The premise was that the main character
is part of many other families that
guard certain pieces of an item known
as the Serpent’s Stone. If all pieces of
the Serpent’s Stone come together the
owner of said objects can make a wish.
The Serpent’s Stone represents the
Ouroboros, a snake that eats its own
tail and symbolizes beginning and end.
Each family has a crest that is a different
characteristic of the Ouroboros. The
characteristics are the eyes, wings, teeth,
tail, and a combination of designs that
match the design on the stone. Gunnarr is
also the name for a War Warrior in
Norse Mythology.
I was also tasked to make a pixelated
item that corresponds with the games
style. I chose to do the piece of the
Serpent’s Stone that was stolen from the
main character.
